Introducing the Raise Next Gen Panel on social, AI and gaming
If you’re aged 13-15 and want to shape the future of social media in a positive way, we’d love you to apply for our first under-16s panel on social media, AI and gaming.
Raise is a non-profit organisation that works on social media safety, through research, education and change. We are a volunteer-run team, and we have some exciting partnerships in the works.
The first of these is the news out today that we are launching the first Raise Next Gen Panel, for a group of under-16s who will get together to share opinions on how teenage use of social media, AI and gaming can be made safer.
Why are we launching the Raise Next Gen Panel?
Everyone wants to know what the answer to a safe experience for under-16s online looks like, but less is known about how younger users of social media, AI, gaming and other technologies would adapt if bans are brought in.
Raise has been doing extensive research on these developments. There has been a huge appetite to hear directly from users who may face changes on how, where and when they can spend their time online. We want to use this information to help shape the future of online spaces.
The panel will feed into media reporting on the topic of social media teen bans, and its members will also feed into the new UK government consultation on whether under-16s should be banned from using social media.
We are looking for a diverse range of voices to join our panel and share their opinions and insights. These will be virtual sessions, and we’re looking for young people who:
- Are aged 13-15
- Live in the UK
- Have opinions about social media, AI or gaming
- Want to make a positive difference
- Are thoughtful, curious and open to discussion
- Truly care – you don’t need to be a tech expert
Panel members will:
- Attend virtual sessions once every three months (with appropriate safeguarding and parental consent)
- Take part in structured discussions and workshops
- Contribute to insight reports and campaigns
- Have opportunities to see how their views shape wider conversations
- Be members of an exclusive group shaping the future of social media and AI
